L.U.V. Doll review & sizing

Posted by on

There are a LOT of new dolls this year!  I haven't seen much about L.U.V. dolls and I'm a bit surprised because they are pretty nice looking.  Perhaps this is because they're marketed as 8" dolls and this seems like a strange doll size?

It's not.  Some very BIG doll lines have bodies with the same proportions, and it would probably be more obvious if LUVs had oversized heads

Now is she starting to look a bit more familiar?

Aside: I get a lot of questions about Bratz now that the line has been refreshed.  They weren't running at the same time as MH dolls so it didn't come up much but as you can see, they are pretty darn similar!  The MH torso is slightly longer, but the EAH torso is about the same length.  A couple of patterns it makes a difference (like Corsets) and there's a 'short torso' variation included in there but generally they are close enough to share patterns.  I should probably do a separate article about this.

Back to LUV:  Size wise, she's more similar to the G3 than the G1/2 size.  Slightly thicker, so the print at 104% or add 1/8" extra to side seams should be all you need if you are going to be using the Petite Slimline patterns to clothe them

As far as clothes swapping goes, her clothes fit a bit large on G1/2 MH & EAH and their clothes are a bit snug on her.   Bratz, LUV, and G3 MH dolls can all swap clothes pretty well, though Bratz are the smallest as they are in between G1/G3 in size.

Here's a visual demonstration!

Bratz vs Luv vs Monster High clothes swapping

See what I mean?  The only thing that they can't swap is shoes.

So I'm pretty happy with LUV dolls!  They're well made, have GREAT clothes, and are a nice addition to the Petite Slimline dolls.
