Hi Everyone!
I've been responding to questions and order stuff at the usual speedy rate but not really posting on social media or uploading any new patterns and I've had a few people reach out to check on me (y'all are so sweet) so here's a general update for the worried:
Back at the beginning of May we had a leak that took out our bathroom and the room beneath it. I posted about it here, with the TLDR being I had to ease back on new patterns to handle all the insurance/various contractors and the things I needed to do myself.
That was 7 months ago. Still no end in sight.
Why? Well, unfortunately the leak was not the only bad luck we've had. Pretty much everything that could go wrong with the repairs has gone wrong. Replacement stuff we ordered arrived damaged, but since it sat in a box until it was ready to be installed we didn't know that and the options were 'buy new stuff' and 'figure out how to repair it' (I repaired them).
Some of the contractors did such a bad job we had to fire them. I have personally redone framing, drywall, trim, and flooring. I'm not going to go into it too much (it would be a novel), but if you ever get to the point where you catch the contractors asking Chat GPT how to install floors, it's better to stop them there because then you won't have to rip out the brand new floor and get another one of that, too.
And that's just the stuff that went sideways on the repairs. There have been so many other things randomly going wrong to deal with, like last week a giant 100+ yr old tree in our yard that was perfectly healthy just fell over and took out power to the whole neighborhood 😔
I'm doing pretty good considering, I'm just exhausted.
I'm really, really looking forward to everything going back to normal once this streak of bad luck finally ends and I am no longer living in a disaster/construction zone. I just don't know when that will be.
