Doll Thrifting in the USA

Posted by on

I've seen a bunch of people posting about coming to the US on vacation and looking to do some second-hand doll or toy hunting but not knowing where to start!  Here's a very thorough list of the types of places to look for and what kinds of things at what kinds of prices you'll find at each of them.   Thrift Stores: These are actual stores that deal in second hand goods.  There are big chains like GoodWill, Salvation Army, and Savers but a lot of one-off stores too.  When you search for "Thrift Store" you should also search for...

L.U.V. Doll review & sizing

There are a LOT of new dolls this year!  I haven't seen much about L.U.V. dolls and I'm a bit surprised because they are pretty nice looking.  Perhaps this is because they're marketed as 8" dolls and this seems like a strange doll size? Catty Noir: New Body Type! Review & Sizing

Posted by on

Hi there Catty! How can we clothe you today?     Here's Catty with some other dollies with plus sized or pear shaped bodies.  I arranged them by most to least similar. The red horizontal reference lines are to make it easier to see what lines up vertically.   Vertically, Catty is MORE similar to the shorter Petite Fashion dolls, but she still has a little longer torso.  She's both wider and deeper than Abbey, though Abbey is probably the closest aesthetically.  We don't do aesthetics though, we do measurements!     The doll community has a long history of...

Curvy Barbie, Curvy Barbie, & Curvy Barbie! 3 dolls, same name, different measurements

Posted by on

Most of the time, a fashion doll with the same body sculpt name has the same proportions no matter how much articulation they have.  There's an exception, and that is the Curvy body type.
